Intel to reveal details of Atom and Nehalem in IDF

The Intel’s next generation generation Core i7 microprocessor will be the headline for Intel’s Developer Forum next week. Surprisingly, the spotlight is also on the Atom processor.
Intel will be planning to announce the new details on their solid-state disk (SSD) lineup. They will also feature their first quad-core mobile microprocessor.
Intel has been leaking out details of its high profile architecture codenamed ‘Nehalem’ to several events and presentations. As the ‘Nehalem’ will now be branded as the Intel Core i7, we would aspect that as the main focus of the forum as well.
The Intel Core i7 will reveal to a very advance energy-efficient feature. Together with its new 45nm silicons, we would expect a very high end microprocessor. Intel will also hold classes for developers to take advantage of the new chip’s capabilities.
While the Intel Core i7 is in the spotlight, the Atom processor also share the same shine. Atom is Intel’s brand name for a series of processors targeted at what is known as the Mobile Internet Device category, or MID. The Atom is a simplified version of Intel’s desktop processors, and optimized to its lower power rating and die size. Atom also features a multi-threading ‘system’ that allows it to handle several instruction streamts at one time.
